I wish there were more stars. there just aren't enough stars to review the quality of people, instruction, students and classes at Next Step Martial Arts. I began my journey about 2 1/2 years ago when I came into the studio, sat on the mat with Master Jay and discussed the reasons I wanted to take taekwondo . I have met and surpassed every single one of them! I'm probably one of the oldest if not the oldest students there , but I can tell you I feel better now that I have felt in my 20s 30s 40s 50s and on. It's been a rigorous journey for me but I was willing to do the work. Master Jay and all the instructors are just an incredible group of individuals . And I feel my success has really been , as the name Next Step Martial Arts implies, one step at a time . All the classes are different, and I learn something from each one of them . I have never looked back, have no regrets, and I'm sure I never well !

My daughter, Kenzie, has just signed up for camp this year. She is five years old. From the moment you walk in the door you are met with smiling, friendly, and respectful staff. I am proud to say that my "shy in front of others" child is blossoming in this well rounded environment. She asks to go back day after day. Perseverance, dedication, and respect are all words that characterize Next Step! Not only does the staff at Next Step possess these qualities, they instill them in their students through engaging activities and self-defense techniques. Master Jay has devoted his life to his passion of teaching Tae Kwon Do! His perseverance to follow his dream and his dedication to his students are beyond what you will find anywhere else! My daughter has finally become old enough to attend summer camp, and within the first week, she was coming home and explaining to her father and me about a concept of respect that she was taught! She thoroughly enjoys her time at Nextstep, and I am pleased because she is learning about qualities that we just don't see in everyday society anymore! Next step is great. I signed my two young girls up last October, both a bit reluctant to try it, but after just one class they were hooked and have consistently enjoyed both the curriculum and the wonderful teachers and staff since. Great extra activities, family oriented, and just a fantastic place to take the girls to.

I signed my five year old up for Taekwondo classes. We were immediately impressed with the responsiveness of the instructors. To acclimate the children before they start, they have private lessons with each instructor. This helped ease my son's nervousness when he started a group class the next week. All instructors know my son by name and have an amazing way of interacting with the children. Master Jay, Cameron, George and Will are all very patient and have helped boost my son's confidence. One time I accidentally mixed up the class schedule and arrived at the studio when no class was in session. Master Will graciously offered a private 10-minute lesson for my son even though it was my mistake and we were not expecting such a generous offer. Their flexible class schedules also make it very easy to find times to get to class each week. We love Next Step!

I don't know where to begin to say how much I love this place. I started out just coming to taekwondo classes for excercise on my weight loss journey (95 pounds now). I think I was at a 45 loss when I started! Anyhow it then became something else for me, more than just excercise. My husband says at the age of 50 I'm like a caterpillar blooming. And everyone I meet taking class there is pretty darn awesome and the staff is top notch! I don't think I can do without Taekwondo in my life now. I would recommend this to all ages.

The most amazing opportunity for kids to learn disipline, self defense and just have fun being active kids. I love what master so and his team have done for the community and helping teach our kids respect in a positive way. I love the events, parents nights out, summer camp, after school activities and everything they do. As a parent of a kiddo with adhd this is a fantastic way for my son to get his energy out and be himself. Thanks next step martial arts we need more positive influences like you guys in the world!!

Do I need to be in shape before I start Kickboxing?

Short answer; absolutely not! We have members of all health and fitness levels, and our classes are designed to fit around each one of these levels.

The only thing we ask is that you bring your best attitude when you come to one of our classes. If you have the mental framework determined to become physically healthy, that is all we want to see. Our trainers will help you get into the best shape of your life!

Can I lose weight with the Fitness Kickboxing program?

Of course. Although, we must say you get what you put in. If you follow a consistent workout pattern, you are bound to see the results you want. On average, kickboxers burn an average of 820 calories per hour.

Do I need any kickboxing experience?

No, we love teaching new members. There is no better way to gain respect from our community than someone who has the will to join our class without any experience. If you can take that first step, you have already proven to our group that you are a strong-minded individual. We will teach you everything you need to know.

Does the physical training include weights or machines?

Most of the training comes from the natural, isotonic, aerobic, anaerobic, and isometric exercises, although, some weight training may be recommended or used. These exercises help our members with losing weight and toning the whole body; our focus is for you to develop speed, flexibility, and force.

What should I wear or bring?

Sweats and a T-shirt, or yoga attire, work best. You’ll also want to bring a towel and a bottle of water. And of course bring the mental attitude that you’re going to kill this workout!

How often should I attend classes?

We understand how busy your life can be; we would love to see you at least once a week. We believe once a week will be a good start for you to build your overall endurance and capability to implement the basic kickboxing moves.

Once you have built the basic foundation of the Kickboxing moves, we encourage you to then increase the amount of frequency and intensity of your workouts. We want you to go at your own pace, but make sure to challenge yourself to see the best results.
